Description
The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage that has been converted into a house. It was built in the late 18th century and expanded in 1844 by Thomas Pilkinton of Bourne. The building features ashlar and coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, and has moulded coped gables with plain kneelers. It has a slate roof and is two storeys high with a garret, presenting a three-bay facade with a plinth. The two end bays have slightly advanced gabled sections.
The central entrance consists of double doors that are half glazed and set beneath four centre arches with a hood mould, which is covered by a later large glazed porch. On either side of the entrance are full-height, four-light casement windows with timber mullions and transoms, also set under hood moulds. Above the entrance are three shorter, three-light windows of similar design, with a datestone reading "1844" above the central window. The gables each contain a single narrow garret light.
At the rear, there is a two-storey wing that has been significantly altered in 1844 but is clearly of earlier construction. Part of the rear of the main block is made of coursed limestone rubble and includes a late 18th-century two-light Gothic traceried casement window. Inside, the vicarage features a well-preserved 19th-century staircase with turned balusters and pendants on the newels, along with original shutters and ceiling cornices.
