Description
Manor Farm House is a 17th-century farmhouse with 19th-century alterations. It is built of coursed limestone rubble and features raised stone coped gables with short stacks and a plain tile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high with a garret, presenting a five-bay front that shows signs of earlier windows. A central 20th-century door is flanked by two 20th-century aluminium sash windows set in 19th-century openings. Above, there are three similar smaller sash windows. All openings are topped with deep painted flat stone lintels. Inside, there is a late 17th-century oak dog leg staircase with turned balusters, a large inglenook fireplace with a stop-chamfered beam, and moulded beams with shield-shaped stops. The garret is accessed by a newel stair from the first floor, with the newel post extending down to the ground level. The roof, dating from the 17th century, is of the clasped purlin type.
