Description

Devon Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with 19th and 20th century alterations. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with quoins. The roof is covered with black glazed pantiles and features a pair of gable and a single ridge stack, all made of red brick. The cottage follows a lobby entry plan and is single-storey with attics. The front has three bays. An off-centre half-glazed door is sheltered by a 19th-century wrought iron porch with a swept triangular hood. To the left of the door are a pair of 19th-century windows, each with two lights, and timber hood moulds above. Three 20th-century dormers, each with two lights and slate-hung cheeks, are set into the eaves. A single-storey wing, with a blank gable, projects from the right-hand end of the building.
