Description
Compton Cottage and the adjacent cottage to the north are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. They are constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and feature red and glazed black pantile roofs. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape and are single storey with attics. The street front has a single bay, which includes a two-light casement window under a timber lintel and a two-light gabled dormer with stone top and sides. The side front of Compton Cottage has a three-bay layout and includes a 19th-century red brick rear wing. This wing features an off-centre half-glazed door with a late 19th-century pent porch, flanked by two single two-light casement windows with segmental heads. To the right, there is a similar window, and on the first floor, there is another similar window.
