Description

Brasenose Cottage is a pair of cottages, now combined into a single dwelling, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries in Middleton Cheney. The left cottage is constructed of uncoursed squared limestone and ironstone, with an uncoursed rubble rear, and has a thatched roof. The right cottage is built of the same materials, but has an artificial stone slate roof. Both cottages feature brick stacks.

The left cottage, dating to the 17th century, originally had three bays and two storeys. A 20th-century conservatory now occupies the two left bays, forming a porch. A 20th-century doorway is situated in the second bay from the left, with a 20th-century window in the left bay, and an original three-light iron casement window with a wooden lintel in the right bay. The first-floor windows have 20th-century wooden casements. A low, one-storey projection extends from the left side, mirroring the roofline of the main block and featuring a wooden lintel. The front door is a six-panel door, with a 20th-century lean-to porch flanked by windows with wooden lintels and three-light iron casements. Similar windows are visible on the first floor.

Inside the 17th-century cottage, two raised cruck blades are exposed.
