Description
Woolsthorpe House is a house located in Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, dating from the mid-18th century with an addition around 1800. It is constructed of red brick in both Flemish and English garden wall bond patterns. The building features hipped and gabled slate roofs, with two wall stacks, a single gable stack, and a ridge stack. The house is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys, characterized by a dogtooth eaves course.
The 1800 addition is a two-storey range that is hipped and includes cellars. This section has three bays, with a central six-panel door and overlight, flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, all featuring segmental heads. The lower two-storey range, which is four bays and positioned at right angles, has two fully glazed doors and three three-light casements, all with segmental heads, along with two three-light glazing bar sashes at the eaves.
Inside, the house retains shutters, doors, and a stick baluster staircase from around 1800.
