Description
This building is a lodge and wash-house located by the east gateway to the Belvoir Estate, dating from around 1870. It is constructed from rock-cut ironstone ashlar, featuring limestone ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is decorated with plain tiles and ornate ridge tiles, topped with wrought iron finials. A central ashlar ridge stack has three tall shafts, with the central shaft diamond set and flanked by circular ones. The building has carved openwork bargeboards and is designed in a T-plan with the wash-house attached. It is a single-storey structure with attics and has a two-bay front, where the right-hand bay is advanced and has a separate gable. The ground floor features single and three-light casements, while the second floor has single and two-light casements. The side front includes a two-storey, two-light bay window that is canted on the ground floor and square on the first floor. All windows are adorned with chamfered mullions and hood moulds.
