Description
47 Newton Way is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features quoins. The cottage has a steeply pitched pantile roof with a single gable and brick stacks at the ridge. The layout follows a lobby entry plan, and the gable stack retains the remains of a stone plinth.
The front of the cottage has three bays and is single storey with a garret. It features an off-centre half-glazed door, a small blocked opening to the right, an early metal six-light pivot window, and a small casement window. All openings are topped with timber lintels. To the left, there is a later lower extension. Inside, the cottage retains simply chamfered beams and two inglenook fireplaces with timber bressumers.
