Description

The Methodist Church, built in 1839, is a Grade II listed building located on Bourne Abbey Road. Designed by Thames Pilkington, it features a brick structure that is stuccoed at the front and topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. The church has a two-storey classical front elevation with a well-proportioned design, including three round-headed windows with glazing bars, flanked by four giant Doric pilasters. Above, there is a plain frieze and a moulded and dentilled pediment. Notably, the acroteria that were present in 1949 have since been removed. The side elevations are plain and feature three windows, while the rear is stuccoed and includes a later low brick extension.

Inside, there is a gallery dated 1867 with a decorated frontal, along with other Victorian fittings that are complete but not particularly remarkable. The main entrance features a high central double door with eight panels and a moulded stone frame.
