Description
Thetford House and barn is a farmhouse and barn dating from the early 18th century, with extensions from the mid 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and pecked dressings, along with red brick and render. It has a slate roof with stone coped gables, two gable ashlar stacks, and a red brick rear range. There is a rendered 19th-century front addition that has a hipped Collyweston slate roof.
The house is two storeys high with a three-bay front, originally five bays, as indicated by the blocked openings. The central entrance features a 20th-century door flanked by single 20th-century glazing bar windows. On the first floor, there are three similar windows. All openings have 20th-century concrete lintels and pecked ashlar quoined reveals. To the left, there is a taller two-storey, two-bay 19th-century wing that has two tall glazing bar sashes on each floor.
At the rear, there is an altered 18th-century red brick wing and an attached barn that has a steeply pitched stone coped gabled Collyweston roof and two sliding double doors. The roof also features two hipped dormers.
