Description
Fletland Water Mill is a water mill built in the early 18th century, with extensions added in the late 18th century and mid-19th century. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a concrete tiled roof. It stands three stories tall with an irregular five-bay front, where the central part represents the earliest phase of construction.
The entrance is an off-centre planked door with an ashlar lintel and keystone, flanked on the left by a blocked segmental archway and on the right by two fixed lights. On the first floor, there is another planked door with three small fixed lights to the right and a boarded grain chute. The second floor has four similar windows, one of which has an ashlar lintel and keystone. The roof features a boarded and gabled sack hoist.
In the gable end, there are two fixed lights on the ground floor and single fixed lights on the upper floors, all with ashlar surrounds and keyblocks. Although the wheel chamber and archway remain, all the gear has been removed.
