Description

No. 75 on Main Street is an estate cottage built in 1850, with a rear extension added in the late 19th century. The cottage is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a decorative fish-scale and plain tiled roof, topped with fleur de lys ridge tiles. The gables are raised and have stone coping, moulded kneelers, and obelisk finials. A single quadruple tunnel ridge stack with a square base and common moulded cornice is present.

The building has a T-plan layout and is two stories tall with a three-bay front that includes a plinth. The central entrance features a half-glazed panelled door. To the left of the door is a two-light window, and to the right is a canted bay with a two-light window flanked by single fixed lights, all beneath a hipped ashlar roof. The gabled right-hand bay has a first-floor two-light window, above which is a shield-shaped datestone from 1850 set in a moulded surround with the initials TT.

All windows are designed with chamfered rectangular surrounds and slender ovolo moulded mullions. The windows themselves are cast iron lattice casements adorned with narrow stained glass borders. To the right, a gabled porch contains a half-glazed door set in a deeply moulded ashlar surround. Above the door is a datestone shaped like a ribbon inscribed with the year 1850, and above that is a square panel featuring a shield with a cusped surround.
