Description
Thorpe House is a former rectory, now a house, built around 1820 and altered in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The building is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped concrete tiled roof with two brick wall stacks. It is two stories high with a three-bay front, where the center bay is slightly advanced in two shallow stages and has a plinth and an open pediment. The central entrance consists of a four flush panelled door with a fanlight, framed by an open pedimented Doric doorcase with stone pilasters. To the left of the entrance are a pair of plain French doors, and to the right is a full-height canted bay window topped with a hipped plain tiled roof. On the first floor, there are three plain sash windows, and all openings feature segmental brick heads. Inside, the house retains a stick baluster staircase with a wreathed hardwood handrail.
