Description
No. 43 on Main Street is a cottage dating from the 17th or 18th century, with later additions. It is constructed of granite and slate rubblestone, topped with a thatched roof, and features brick dressings and brick coped gables. The building has a rebuilt brick central ridge stack and stands at one and a half storeys high, with casement windows throughout. The entrance is located on the right side, while a gabled porch to the left is supported by knobbly turned pillars and also has a thatch roof.
To the left of the porch, there is a two-light casement window with a cambered lintel, followed by a one-light casement and a three-light casement window, also with a cambered lintel. Above these, there is a two-light eyebrow dormer. The gable facing the road features two-light casements on both floors. To the left, there is a smaller span of similar windows dating from around 1900, with a plain tile roof. This section includes casements and a door on its left side. At the rear, there is a similar two-storey wing that faces the gable and adjoins the front of the cottage. This wing has a slate roof, ridge and side stacks, a door, and four-light windows with cambered lintels on both floors.
