Description

24 and 24A Minster Yard is a pair of former houses, originally a single house, dating from the mid-18th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble that has been whitewashed, with stucco dressings and a plain tile roof featuring a single ridge stack and two gable stacks, one of which is external. It has a rendered plinth and stands two storeys high with five bays.

No. 24 includes a flat-roofed addition that is two storeys tall, featuring a segment-headed triple sash window, with a door and two glazing bar sashes to the left. Above the door, there is a square projection flanked on the right by two segment-headed glazing bar sashes and on the left by a canted bay window. To the left of this, there is another glazing bar sash. Above, there are five windows of various types.

No. 24A has a lean-to addition, with a glazing bar sash and a door to the right. Above this, there is a segment-headed dormer. The north side, facing Eastgate, has an off-centre blocked doorway with a keystone lintel and fanlight, flanked by single sashes. Above this doorway, there are four similar sashes. All the sashes feature glazing bars and keystone lintels. To the right, there is a lower two-storey addition with a single bay and a parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
