Description

The Village Hall, originally a school and now serving as a hall, was built in 1857. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof featuring stone tiled coped gables and is designed in an L-plan. The building is single storey with a five-bay front that has corbelled out and dogtooth eaves courses. An off-centre planked door is sheltered by a gabled porch, which has a four-centred brick chamfered outer doorway. To the right, there is a two-storey block that houses the former schoolmaster's residence, featuring a two-light casement window on the ground floor and a similar window above on the first floor. The gable of this block has a datestone inscribed "1857". To the left of the main entrance, there are two cross mullioned two-light casement windows, and further along is a tall two-light casement under a separate gable. All windows, except for the tall one, are adorned with chamfered brick hood moulds. The building is listed for its group value.
