Description
Llyndu House is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with 20th-century alterations and an addition. It features a mud and stud construction with painted plaster and thatched hipped roofs that have decorative eaves and two brick stacks at the ridges. The building has a T-plan layout, with the rear range being a 20th-century addition. It is a single-storey structure with attics and an irregular front consisting of four bays. The right-hand end bay is part of a lower single-storey range. Originally, the house had five bays with a central door, which has since been relocated to the rear range. The four windows are all 20th-century glazing bar casements, either two or three lights. Two corner posts and part of the wall plate are visible, although the post on the right-hand corner is made of pine and is not original. The interior has been largely modernised, but original features such as wall studs, bracing, tie beams, and the wall plate remain. In the hall, the ceiling beam is chamfered and features unusual double pyramid stops. The studs rest on padstones, and additional jowled pieces have been attached to the studs, notched to provide seating for the wall plate, which may suggest that the attic floor was added later.
