Description
The Church of St Margaret is a parish church built in 1879 by James Fowler of Louth. It is constructed from squared greenstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features plain tiled roofs with stone coped gables that have cross fleurys and decorative ridges. The church includes a western tower, nave, vestry, and chancel, all designed in the Decorated style.
The two-stage tower is topped with an octagonal belfry and a short spire. The pointed west door has a moulded surround, and above it is a two-light window. The belfry contains eight louvred, trefoil-headed lights beneath a pointed stone roof. The north wall of the nave has three two-light windows, while the chancel's north wall features a single light. The east window consists of three lights with paired trefoils above.
On the east wall of the vestry, there is a single chamfered doorway with a flat hood mould, and the south wall has a two-light window with a chamfered mullion and rectangular surround. The south wall of the nave mirrors the north wall. All windows are adorned with cusped ogee heads for the lights and feature quatrefoils, trefoils, or paired mouchettes above. The moulded hoods of the windows end in plain square labels.
