Description

No. 36 Upgate is a late 18th century or early 19th century building located on the west side of Upgate. It features a moulded gable end facing the road and is constructed with brick and pantiles. The building is two storeys high and has a rectangular bay on the first floor above a modern shop front. The Gospelgate elevation consists of four windows, which are hung sashes with glazing bars, although one window on each storey is blocked. There is a 19th-century door located beneath a rectangular fanlight, framed by a brick arch. This building is listed for its Gospelgate elevation and as part of a group with Nos. 36 to 52 (even) and the former Black Bull Public House.
