Description

No 26 on Upgate is an early 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick. It features a pantile roof and has a bracketed dentil eaves cornice. The façade includes five windows with cambered heads and keystones, all of which are hung sashes. There is a brick band present as well. The ground floor has two late 19th-century shop windows that are adorned with carved spandrels and mosaic stall risers, displaying a list of café products and services along with Art Nouveau floral designs. This building, along with Nos 16 to 32 (even) and the former Black Bull Public House, forms a cohesive group.
