Description
This is a road bridge over Barlode Drain, built around 1812 under the direction of engineer John Rennie. The bridge is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings. It features a basket arch with a red brick band above, and has bowed swept walls that end in single square piers. The parapet is coped with ashlar. The nearby Bell Water Bridge is not included in this listing. The surrounding area was drained and enclosed by John Rennie between 1802 and 1812.
