Description

Clarey's Bridge is a road bridge that spans a drainage channel, built around 1812 by the engineer John Rennie. It features red brick construction with some ashlar stonework. The bridge has a semi-circular archway, topped with a flat band. The parapet is made of ashlar and has sweeping sides that end in coped rectangular piers. The southwest section of the bridge is located in Eastville, the southeast section in Thorpe St. Peter, and the north side in Halton Holgate. This area was drained and enclosed by John Rennie between 1802 and 1812.
