Description

The Old Church of All Saints is a parish church that is now redundant, built in 1748 on a medieval base and restored in 1908. It is constructed of red brick with limestone ashlar dressings and greenstone rubble. The roof is plain tiled with stone coped gables, and features a parapet with an ashlar band and a weatherboarded rectangular west bellcote from 1908, which has rectangular slatted openings on each side and a small pyramidal roof.

The nave and chancel are under a single roof, with the west bellcote at the front. The west end has a central doorway with a moulded architrave, a raised keystone, and a fielded panelled door. Above the door, there is a stone inscribed with the dates of erection (1748) and restoration (1908), along with a flat ashlar band and pediment.

On the north side, there are two semi-circular headed windows with moulded architraves and raised keystones. The east end has a segmental headed greenstone blocked opening, featuring an ashlar dressed narrow semi-circular headed window from 1908 with a raised keystone, and the gable outline of a demolished chancel above. The south side mirrors the north with two semi-circular headed windows, also with moulded architraves and raised keystones, and a sundial positioned in between.

Inside, there are dismantled 19th century furnishings, including broken sections of dado, pulpit, and pews.
