Description

Brantbeck Bridge is a public road bridge over the Lancaster Canal, built in the late 18th century by engineer John Rennie. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a tall, single elliptical arch. The sides of the bridge are battered and concave in plan. The arch includes an impost band and a triple keystone. Below the solid parapet, which has a rounded top, there is a string course. The bridge is flanked by attached round piers.
