Description
The wall on the south and west side of the courtyard west of Ashton Hall dates from around 1600 and has been altered. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features stepped triangular coping. This wall connects Ashton Hall with the Gatehouse. At the eastern end, where it adjoins Ashton Hall, the coping rises above a moulded door surround that has a segmental arch. The buildings located on the west side are not included in this listing.
