Description

Kirkby Bridge is a road bridge built around 1812 under the direction of engineer John Rennie. It features red brick construction with ashlar dressings. The bridge has an elliptical arch with a red brick band above it, and the walls are bowed and swept, ending in single square piers. The parapet is coped with ashlar. There has been some patching work done in the 20th century. The surrounding area was drained and enclosed by John Rennie between 1802 and 1812.
