Description

No. 1 and No. 21 Conging Street are two houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick with yellow brick detailing and feature slate roofs that are hipped to the north, with stone-coped gables at the rear and gable stacks along with a single ridge stack. The buildings are arranged in an L-plan and are two stories high, with a two-bay north front and a single three-story bay to the left.

The central doorway is adorned with flanking fluted half columns, an entablature, a moulded cornice, a traceried overlight, panelled reveals, and a deep-set panelled door. On either side of the doorway are single glazing bar sash windows with painted wedge lintels and segmental heads. To the right, there are two additional glazing bar sashes, a blind panel to the left, and a single blind panel above, all featuring segmental heads and painted wedge lintels.

The east front of No. 21 North Street has a three-bay arrangement with a central doorway similar to that of No. 1, flanked by fluted half columns, an entablature, a moulded cornice, a traceried overlight, panelled reveals, and a deep-set panelled door. This doorway is also flanked by single glazing bar sashes, with three glazing bar sashes above and three smaller glazing bar sashes above them. All windows have painted wedge lintels and segmental heads.
