Description
Old Nick's Tavern is a coaching inn that has been converted into a wine bar. It dates from the late 18th century, with mid-19th and 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick, with some areas featuring colourwashed render, and has a pantile roof with stone-coped gables and a single ridge stack.
The tavern has a three-storey, five-bay front with a first-floor band. To the right, there is a doorway with a moulded doorcase, entablature, small hood, overlight, and a panelled door. Flanking the doorway are plain sash windows with wedge lintels, segmental heads, and margin lights. To the left of the entrance is a blocked window with a segmental head and wedge lintel, alongside a plain sash window with a flat head and a 20th-century hood blind.
There is a carriage archway to the left, which also has a segmental head, and a blind opening above it. A plain sash window to the left features a wedge lintel and margin lights, while a glazing bar sash to the right has a segmental head. Beyond that, there is another plain sash with wedge lintels and margin lights. Above, to the left, is a blind opening with a segmental head, and there are glazing bar sashes to the left and two to the right, all with segmental heads.
