Description
Nos. 1 and 2 The Green are a pair of estate cottages built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a slate roof with alternating plain and fishscale bands. The cottages have a single brick ridge stack with a dentillated base and four filleted funnels topped with moulded details. The buildings are single storey plus attics and have a four-bay front. There are two off-centre planked doors that are sheltered by gabled porches, which have Tudor-style outer arches and elaborate cusped and pierced bargeboards with large pointed finials. The front also includes two three-light windows with cast iron lattice casements set beneath cambered brick arched heads. In the roof, there are a pair of gabled dormers featuring two-light casements with slate-hung cheeks. These cottages are included in the listing for their group value.
