Description

Linby House Farmhouse and adjoining stables is a late 18th-century building that was extended in the early 19th century, with further modifications in the mid and late 19th century. It is constructed from brick and ironstone rubble, topped with roofs made of concrete tile, pantile, and slate. The structure features three gable and one ridge brick stacks and is arranged in a U shape around a stable yard.

The front of the farmhouse has an off-centre moulded wood doorcase with a hood supported by curved brackets. It includes a six-panel door with a blank fanlight and stone steps. To the left of the door, there is a single sash window, and to the right, there are two larger sash windows. On the upper floor, there are two sashes to the left and two larger sashes to the right, all of which have glazing bars and moulded wooden surrounds.

Adjacent to the farmhouse, to the left, is a stable with a blocked central door and two small sliding sashes to its right. A single-storey rear wing features a 19th-century casement on the south side. To the left of this wing, there is another stable with a central door that has a segmental head, flanked by single casements. On the west side of the yard, there is a two-storey stable that has two stable doors and two casements with segmental heads on the east side, along with two square blocked openings above. To its right, a single-storey stable includes a casement, a blocked door to the left, and a stable door to the right, all with segmental heads.
