Description
Riverton Farmhouse, which includes former stables at the left end, is a farmhouse and attached stables that likely date from the 17th century, although earlier features may be hidden. The building has been altered in the 20th century and is constructed of painted rendered stone and cob. The farmhouse has a slate roof with gable ends, while the former stables have a corrugated iron roof. At the rear of the farmhouse, there is a lateral rubble stack with offsets that has been heightened in brick.
The farmhouse follows a 3-room cross-passage plan and is two storeys high with a five-window range. On the left end of the main range, there is a 19th-century two-light casement window with three panes per light. The right end features two gabled half dormers with sash windows that have margin glazing bars. In the centre, there is an early 19th-century casement window with two panes in the left side light and six panes in the right. There are also four pigeon holes at the left end. The off-centre doorway has a 20th-century door and is enclosed in a 20th-century lean-to extension.
The former stables have a doorway with a cambered brick arch at the left end and a two-light casement window. To the right of a blocked doorway, there is a 17th-century two-light timber window with a chamfered surround, although the mullion has been replaced. The interior has not been inspected.
