Description
Riverton Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building features painted rendered stone and cob, topped with a half-hipped thatch roof. At the rear, there are two tall lateral stacks with offsets, bread oven projections, and brick shafts. The original layout has been obscured due to the conversion of the house into two cottages, before being returned to a single dwelling.
The cottage is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical facade with a five-window range, which includes eyebrow dormers. The windows are 19th and 20th century two-light casements, with two panes per light. The ground floor windows are fitted with timber lintels. A hipped thatch roof covers the central porch, and there is a 20th-century lean-to extension at the right end. Inside, there are single crossed ovolo-moulded beams in the room to the left of the entrance.
