Description

Orchard Cottage is a house that was originally two cottages, built in the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. It features painted rendered stone and cob construction with a thatched roof and brick stacks at the gable ends. The building is single room deep and has undergone changes that obscure its original layout due to the removal of partitions that once separated the two cottages. It stands two storeys high and has a six-window range, with the second window from the right being blind. The windows are primarily 19th and 20th century casements, with three and two panes per light. Most ground floor openings have been changed to accommodate modern fenestration. The rear of the building has three buttresses, and the interior has been significantly altered.
