Description
This is a late 17th-century, two-storey farmhouse made of brick and stone, with 19th-century alterations. It features medium-pitched slate roofs with plain eaves and 19th-century end chimneys. The building has a loddy-entry plan with a central brick stack and an asymmetrical facade that is now pebble-dashed, showcasing 19th-century windows. The entrance is offset and has a plain stucco surround that slightly projects. The door is a four-panelled design, with the upper panels glazed. There are nine-pane recessed sash windows on the left and right sides, and six-pane windows on the first floor, including an offset four-pane central window, all with narrow stone cills. A plain string-course runs along the facade.
To the right, there is a stepped-down, adjoining brick stable range from the early 19th century, which is painted and has a slate roof with a steeper pitch. It features a stable door with simple cambered-headed windows on either side, and two additional six-pane sash windows that are irregularly placed on the first floor. A modern wooden garage door is located to the right. The farmhouse has catslide outshuts at the rear and other 20th-century additions to the back of both ranges. The stable block includes external first-floor access at the rear.
Inside, the ground floor room to the left, which was formerly a hall, has a beamed ceiling with a main beam that is chamfered and plain-stopped. An inglenook bressumer is present but obscured by wallpaper. In the corresponding first-floor room, there is a similar fireplace featuring a carved, arcaded bressumer with the date 1673 in the center. It is said that reeded ceilings are beneath the plaster. There is also a cellar with worn-stepped access, which is now blocked.
