Description

The Masonic Hall is a 6-bay rectangular building designed in the Jacobethan style, constructed from sandstone ashlar set on a continuous plinth. It features a medium pitched slate roof with plain eaves and coped gables at the north and south ends, each adorned with diagonally set crocketted finials and corbelled out details. The building has large, centrally-placed lateral chimneys that are stepped and topped with single octagonal shafts. The eastern chimney includes an inserted moulded plaque that reads "Masonic Hall 1913" in raised lettering, with a shield displaying a Masonic badge above it.

The eastern facade is symmetrical, featuring two 2-light mullioned windows and one single-light window on either side of the chimney stack. These windows have recessed and chamfered surrounds, plain mullions, and moulded hoods that return. The north and south gables each have stepped 8-light mullioned and transomed windows, with a blocked entrance on the north side. There is an enclosed porch on the south side, which is timber-framed and built on a brick plinth up to dado height. Most windows in the main building have been blocked, except for two on the west side. At the rear, there are single-storey stone extensions from two different periods, with the main extension featuring a porch that has a timber-framed gable and stepped access, along with a 4-light mullioned window and a slate roof.
