Description

The detached coach house located to the southwest of Stafford House is a 2-storey villa built in the Regency style, featuring a 3-bay symmetrical facade. It is constructed of brick with painted stucco and has a shallow-pitched hipped slate roof with lead flashing. The building includes two stuccoed stacks with plainly moulded caps and a plain eaves cornice adorned with decorative brackets. The facade has later stucco decoration, with four vertical, simply-moulded panels that divide the bays, each topped with scrolls and aprons, and a central ball motif.

The entrance is highlighted by a wooden moulded entablature supported by a pair of engaged Doric columns. The door is a six-panel design, with the upper pair being fielded, and features a simple rectangular fanlight above. There are five recessed 16-pane sash windows with moulded surrounds, plain cills, and small keys. The east and west faces display modern decorative stucco rosettes and a string course, with the west side being rusticated. A later 19th-century extension has been added to the west side, which is two storeys and stepped down, featuring a plain end stack. The stucco decoration continues on the sides and rear, though it is simplified in these areas.

Inside, there are contemporary six-panelled doors and door-cases, along with a plain grey marble fireplace in the left-hand ground floor room. The staircase features a swept rail with a scrolled end supported by a cast iron Doric column. There is a deep cellar with a sandstone dado. Adjacent to the southwest is a contemporary coach house and stable block, also of brick, which is two storeys with a shallow slated roof and tile copings. It has dentilated eaves and a reduced stack to the northeast. The right side features a large depressed arched opening with sandstone hinge blocks and modern doors, while the left side has C20 garage doors with a recessed stable door above, which has a cambered head. There is also a later external doorway on the northeast gable end and two first-floor windows, one of which has been replaced.
