Description

Magpie Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located on Mill Lane, Frisby, and has undergone several alterations. The building’s structure is characterized by box framing with struts and brick nogging, with a whitewashed exterior. It has a slate roof and a rubble plinth. Two coped brick stacks rise from a single gable and a ridge. The cottage is two storeys high and originally had three bays.

The north front features a gabled brick porch of the mid-19th century on the left-hand side, containing two small lancet windows and a weatherstripped door. To the left of the porch is a 20th-century casement window, and to the right, a 20th-century door. Above these windows and doors are three gabled dormers, each containing a three-light Gothic casement window. The rear elevation has a tall two-light 20th-century casement window on the right, flanked to the left by a two-light and to the right by a single three-light glazing bar casement window. Three gabled dormers mirror the arrangement on the north front, each featuring a three-light Gothic casement.
