Description
The Coach House is a public house, later converted into a house, dating to the mid-18th century with additions from the mid-19th century. Built of brick, it is colourwashed and has hipped and gabled concrete tile roofs. The building features a plinth, cogged eaves, and a pediment. It has two ridge stacks and two gable brick stacks. The main front is three storeys high and five bays wide, with a central projecting bay topped by a pedimented doorcase added in the late 20th century. This bay contains a six-panel door with a fanlight, flanked by glazing bar sash windows. Above the door are a dummy sash window, flanked by two glazing bar sashes. The next floor repeats the pattern, with a dummy sash flanked by two glazing bar sashes. The topmost floor also replicates this arrangement, with a smaller dummy sash between two glazing bar sashes. All windows have rubbed brick heads. The pediment has a blank oval opening. The west end has a 20th-century casement window flanked by single glazing bar sashes. The upper floors of the west elevation mirror this pattern with two glazing bar sashes, one of which is a dummy, and two casement windows, the latter being a dummy. The east end includes similar fenestration with dummy windows to the left. The rear of the building is set back, with a central three-bay lean-to addition and single gabled wings flanking it. The rear features scattered 20th-century window openings.
