Description
Zion House is a farmhouse and service wing, now functioning as a house, dating from the mid-17th century. It was remodeled in 1725, with further alterations and additions made in the late 19th and late 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, partly rendered and colorwashed, with traces of timber framing and rubble plinths. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof, complemented by a pantiled catslide roof at the rear. The gables are coped, and there are two ridge stacks and a single lateral brick stack.
The house is two stories tall and has four bays. The front facade includes a slightly off-center 19th-century panelled door, which is topped by a hood supported by shaped brackets. To the left of the door are two three-light late 19th-century casement windows, followed by a similar two-light casement. To the right, there is a 20th-century three-light casement with a wooden lintel, next to a small glazing bar casement in a blocked opening with a segmental head. Further to the right is a bay post and a small 19th-century casement, followed by a 20th-century two-light casement. Above the main entrance, there is a slightly off-center eyebrow dormer featuring a three-light casement. The north gable has a sliding sash window, with a glazing bar casement above it. The south gable displays the date '1725' in vitrified headers. The rear of the house includes a long lean-to porch from the late 19th century.
