Description

Grove Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with possible earlier origins, and was partly encased in the early 18th century and extended in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered, with a red brick end wall and additional brickwork. The house has a steeply pitched roof covered in black glazed pantiles, with slate on the rear. The layout consists of a three-cell lobby entry plan, with an additional bay added to the right.

The building is two storeys high with an attic, and the entrance is now roughly central, featuring a half-glazed door set within a 19th-century open gabled porch that has bargeboards. The windows are 20th-century three-light casements, and the eaves are boxed. There are two box dormers with two-light glazing bars.

A central axial ridge stack has been extended in the 19th century and has an oversailing cap. The left end has an internal stack with an early 18th-century brick wall that features two offsets and moulded kneelers at the parapet, which is coped only on the rear side. The right end is made of 19th-century brick and has an extruded stack. At the rear, there are two 19th-century brick bays flanking an earlier and smaller timber-framed bay, all with separate gables. There is a stack on the left and an entrance in the outer return, with 20th-century casements that have gauged brick flat arched heads to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
