Description

Marycot is a house that was previously divided into two separate dwellings. It dates from the late 16th century and late 17th century. The building is one-and-a-half storeys high throughout, but the western half, which includes the chimney stack, is slightly lower than the eastern half. It is constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior, topped with a thatched roof. The house features two-light small-paned casement windows and one gabled dormer. There are also two plank doors, each with a small gabled roof above. Inside, the plain timbering is exposed. The western half of the house is from the late 16th century, with joists set flat, while the eastern half is from the late 17th century, featuring poorer framing and joists set on edge.
