Description

Ivy Cottage, located on Northgate, is a cottage that likely dates back to the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and partially rendered over what is probably brickwork, topped with a thatched roof. The building is 1½ storeys high and follows a three-unit plan, although the left-hand bay appears to be an older addition as it is of lesser height. This bay features a renewed casement window with a timber lintel. The central doorway in the other bays has a two-centred arched architrave, and there are 9-light sash windows on each floor, with cambered brick heads above the lower lights. The openings may have been added later. The cottage has gable end stacks.
