Description

This is an early 18th-century farmhouse, significantly altered and renovated in the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughly-laid ironstone rubble, set on a plinth, and has a thatched roof. The building has a three-unit plan, extending for one-and-a-half stories. To the left of the front door is a single bay containing a three-light wooden window with mullions and a transom. A 19th-century porch with a steep, pointed gable, decorative barge boards, and a two-centred arched doorway is centered on the front. To the left of the porch is a canted stone bay window, and adjacent to it, a three-light casement window with a lower, central opening light. The lower windows have brick arches, and are all 19th-century replacements. Three upper two-light casement windows are set in eyebrow dormers. A blocked window, originally a fire window, is visible in the left-hand bay. The gables are coped, and there are gable and axial stacks. This property holds group value as a well-preserved example of a farmhouse reflecting both 18th and 19th-century building styles.
