Description

The Old Forge is a cottage dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone and limestone rubble, with a thatched roof and brick stacks. The sides and cornice have been rebuilt in brick. The cottage is two storeys high and has four bays. A doorway in the second bay from the right has a timber lintel, a plank door, and a thatched hood. A two-light casement window with a timber lintel is located to the left. The other ground floor windows are three-light casements with timber lintels, except for the second bay from the left, where a 20th-century six-pane window has replaced a former doorway. First-floor windows are also three-light casements with timber lintels. A stack is situated to the right of the centre and on the left gable. The interior has not been inspected. The building has group value.
