Description

The Malting is a 17th-century house located on Crick Main Road. It features a datestone marked 16-/T.W.B. beneath the attic window on the left gable. The building is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and has a 19th-century tile roof arranged in diaper patterns, along with a brick stack. It has an L-plan layout and stands two storeys high with one bay. To the left, there is a projecting gabled wing that rises three storeys and includes an attic, also with one bay. The entrance, located to the right, is framed by a 19th-century gabled stone porch and a four-panel door with sidelights and an overlight. The ground and first floors feature two-light stone-mullioned windows with flat moulded hoods, while a similar two-light window is present on the third floor, along with a blocked one-light window in a moulded stone surround at the attic level. The interior has not been inspected. The house is noted to have been dated 1692, although the datestone is now partly eroded.
