Description
This is an early 18th-century cottage, remodelled in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with a corrugated iron roof and rendered stacks. The house has a roughly L-shaped layout. The main part of the cottage is two storeys high and one bay wide. The entrance on the left has a wooden lintel above the plank door, and there is a one-light casement window to the right, also with a wooden lintel. A matching window sits on the first floor. A gabled wing projects forward from the left side, built of similar materials and also two storeys high, with one bay. It has two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, each with a wooden lintel. The gable end of this wing has brick coping. Inside, the ground floor rooms contain a set of chamfered beams, and there is an open fireplace. Attached to the left and right are brick barns dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. The barn to the left has a rear wall constructed of cob.
