Description

41 Main Street is a house built in the early 19th century, which was restored and extended around 1980. It is constructed of red brick with plain tile roofs, featuring brick side walls and ridge stacks, as well as dentilled eaves bands. The building has two storeys plus garrets and consists of two bays, with a lower two-storey single bay section at right angles to the south. The street elevation is blank.

The west gable wall has 20th-century small pane casement windows with segment heads on both the ground and first floors, along with a segment-headed three-light horizontal sliding glazing bar sash above. The east gable wall features a segment-headed doorcase with a glazed door to the north and a bay window to the east. Above this, there is a segment-headed small pane 20th-century casement window, and above that, a small two-light segment-headed horizontal sliding glazing bar sash. The rear wing includes a simple verandah on the west side, with a 20th-century window and doorcase behind.

Inside, the house has chamfered ceiling beams and a stick baluster staircase. The west room contains a large inglenook fireplace with a panelled cupboard, while the east room has a simple marble fireplace. The 20th-century extension at the rear is of no particular interest.
