Description
The Scotch Bridge is a canal bridge located on the Trent and Mersey Canal in Weston-upon-Trent. It was built in 1770 by the engineer James Brindley and has undergone minor repairs since its construction. The bridge is made of red brick set on a rubble stone plinth, featuring stone dressings. It has a single segmental brick arch supported by tapering stone jambs, with plain brick spandrels and parapets that are topped with chamfered stone copings. The walls of the bridge splay outwards at each end and terminate in plain brick piers.
