Description
The Trent and Mersey Canal Bridge at Weston Lock is a canal bridge built in 1770 by engineer James Brindley, with some minor repairs. It is constructed of red brick and stone, with parts rebuilt in blue brick. The bridge features a single segmental brick arch supported by tapering stone jambs, and plain brick spandrels above, with the western side partially rebuilt. On the eastern side, there is a small oval cast iron plaque inscribed with the number '8', located just above the arch. The walls of the bridge splay outwards at each end and are topped with chamfered stone copings. This bridge was built as part of the Trent and Mersey Canal and is included for its group value only.
