Description

The Cottages at King's Mills is a row of former workers' cottages, now part of The Priest House Hotel. They date from the early 19th century and were refurbished in the 20th century. The cottages have colourwashed render, deep flat eaves, and a 20th-century tiled roof, with colour-washed render chimneys. The building is two storeys high and consists of nine bays. The ground floor features three-light cast iron windows with arched lights, though the lower halves of these lights have been altered to 20th-century wooden casements. The upper storey has paired wooden casements with single horizontal glazing bars, along with similar single lights between the bays. There are five 20th-century six-panelled doors with gabled timber porches, also renewed in the 20th century. The roof is hipped at the left end, and the chimneys have clusters of two or four chamfered square shafts. A narrow bay is set back at the right end, and there are double-storey 20th-century extensions to the left.
